About the opportunity:

As part of my client’s ongoing expansion and confirmed future workload, they have identified the need to recruit a permanent Remediation Engineer to assist with the technical delivery of remediation and enabling projects.

Reporting to the Project Managers, as a Remediation Engineer, your duties will include the following:

Pre-start organisation & planning of projects:

  • Assisting with production of remediation strategies, materials management plans, method statements and risk assessments.
  • Assisting with obtaining licenses, permits and regulatory approvals including compilation of supporting technical information.
  • Co-ordinating / appointing subcontractors.

On site delivery of projects:

  • Working with site personnel to ensure projects are implemented safety.
  • Monitoring environmental emissions and ensuring control measures are implemented when required.
  • Supervise site activities such as excavations.
  • Set up, operate and maintain soil and water treatment systems.
  • Carrying out verification sampling and scheduling laboratory works
  • Assessment of testing results.
  • Waste classification and managing duty of care for disposal.
  • Ensure site records are kept up to date.
  • Maintaining and using equipment such as PID, noise meter, CBR probe etc.

Project close-out:

  • Compilation of data and drafts for verification / completion reports, health and safety files etc.

About the requirements:

As a Remediation Engineer, you will ideally hold 2-4 years post graduate experience in a related discipline, ideally with a significant portion of this time spent on site, carrying out sampling etc.

A basic knowledge of soil description, sampling, soil and groundwater remedial approaches and asbestos in soil would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.

A valid driving license is essential and the role will involve a reasonable amount of travel and may require you to work away from home (full subsistence will be covered).

About the benefits and rewards:

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals who are looking to earn anywhere between £24,000 – £27,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability.  Additionally, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.
