Our privately owned client who is based in the South East, has been established for over 25 years and is a leading remediation and brownfield contractor in the UK. Their expertise is within the treatment of contaminated soil and groundwater using a variation of chemical and biological processes; however they also offer a full package including demolition and site re-grading.

About the opportunity:

Due to present and anticipated workload, our client has identified the need to expand their team and therefore is recruiting permanently for a Remediation Engineer to assist the senior management with technical delivery and verification of remediation and earthworks contracts throughout the M25 corridor. This opportunity will incorporate a mix of both site and office based working and as a Remediation Engineer your day to day duties will involve:

  • Carrying out site assessments
  • Visiting sites to conduct technical audits and undertaking sampling
  • Performing due diligence
  • Evaluating the environmental impact of an organisation’s industrial and commercial activities and assist with working towards IS014001 accreditation
  • Making recommendations about required work and ways to meet compliance regulations
  • Producing technical validation and verification reports

Key responsibilities for this opportunity will include but not be limited to the below:

  • Assist with the overseeing of remediation projects from beginning to completion
  • Reviewing site investigation reports, producing summaries and writing proposals
  • Managing, developing, and driving proposals forward and planning for the remediation project covering all environmental aspects and associated regulations
  • Management of the compliance and application of environmental permits and licenses
  • Implementing the remediation proposals and handling all technical aspects
  • Performing generic and detailed quantitative risk assessment
  • Carrying out site work including verification sampling, assisting with the set up and commissioning of treatment systems
  • Handling the containment of hazardous materials
  • Investigating sites that have been contaminated with chemicals, toxic waste, or other dangerous materials
  • Ensuring all parties meet compliance with current environmental regulations
  • Obtaining necessary permits involved in the remediation project
  • Training staff on how to use and implement remediation systems
  • Compiling technical reports, daily logs and soil, water chemical sampling and completing environmental inspections.
  • Assisting with the logistics of the disposal of site waste materials and required import materials.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, it is imperative that professionals have at least 3 years post graduate experience whilst working within a contaminated land discipline and ideally a significant portion of this time will have been spent in remediation on site, carrying out sampling, site investigations etc. (contracting experience is a must). Additionally, you must have experience in report writing and dealing with sub-contractors, scientists and other engineers. Furthermore, due to project locations, you must hold a full UK driving license.

About the rewards / benefits:

For this opportunity, we are targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £25,000 – £32,000 per annum however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.
