About the opportunity:

Due to successful company expansion and healthy order books, my client is recruiting permanently for a Remediation Engineer. Reporting to the Project Managers / Directors, you will be responsible for the assistance of the tending and site teams with respect to technical support, with regard to tender assessment / costing and project technical support for the operational sites.

The purpose of this opportunity is to collect and interpret chemical data for tenders and the site operational decision making process; undertake tasks to ensure the Project Manager can liaise with the client and regulators for successful delivery of a project and assist the Site Manager with site based activities in order to deliver an accident free project, on time and within budget.

General responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Communicate clearly with the Site Manager, Project Manager and site personnel
  • Assistance with tender assessment and design and the collation and completion of the tender submission.
  • Write, implement and continually evaluate and improve method statements, risk assessments and PPE
  • Draft and Submit for approval Materials Management Plans under C:LAIRE Code of Practice
  • Draft and Submit for approval Environmental Permit deployment forms
  • Ensure clear delivery of method statements and risk assessments to the site team to address all risks.
  • Design, implement and control a validation / testing schedule for site
  • Collect chemical samples and carefully dispatch to laboratory for testing
  • Chase up test results from the laboratories and inform Project and Site managers of expected delays. Forward plan a programme of works for testing and monitoring data
  • Review chemical data and interpret results to enable decisions to be made on progress / treatment methods needed
  • Preparation and submission of contract completion / validation reports
  • Maintain and complete CRO23 (soil / water audit report)
  • Assist in the conceptualisation of data for new tenders
  • Assist in the design of remedial solutions for new tenders
  • Assist in the production of tender submission documents
  • Communicate to Project and Site Manager all past and present site specific target level (SSTL) failures
  • Assist in the preparation and evaluation of method statements, risk assessments and PPE.  Ensure validation suite / SSTLs are included in method statements
  • Assist in the management and implementation of the Environmental and Quality Management Systems
  • Continually identify variations to the specification / validation requirements from the outset of the project – these changes to be communicated to the project manager
  • Assist the project manager with the completion of the site health and safety file
  • Ensure the Mobile treatment license is being implemented as per the deployment form.  Undertake necessary environmental monitoring and report this concisely
  • Submit monthly near miss reports to enable company learning and reduce the likelihood of accidents on site.

About the benefits / rewards:

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals who are looking to earn anywhere between £30,000 – £35,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability.  Additionally, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be degree qualified in a relevant field (i.e., Environmental Science, Remediation, Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, Waste Management), hold a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the remediation sector and be based in the South West although willing to travel and work nationwide for projects (therefore a full UK driving license is essential).
