About the Company:

Our privately owned client is a specialist subcontractor operating in Central London, who work with a variety of residential, commercial and industrial business. Over the years, they have developed into a multi-functional group which successfully cover a number of sectors however the core functions of their business which includes deconstruction, structural alterations, temporary works and piling contributes £40M turnover to the overall group turnover of £60M. All of their operational and surveying team operate out of their newly, refurbished central London office, which offers their employees the ability to jump on the train (if not walk) to their sites within 30 minutes. The benefit of this allows complete cooperation across all departments, creating a stream line process and team approach.

At present, our client has secured £25M worth of work for this year, with further workload in the pipeline. With a low staff turnover, this specialist subcontractor rarely recruits and this opportunity has arisen purely due to company expansion and a healthy pipeline of work.

About the position:

Due to a healthy order book, there is need for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director in the successful commercial and financial management of projects and tenders within the demolition and civil engineering sector. As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will assist in managing costs with an end goal of maximising the project margin and ensure delivery of payment whilst developing future client relationships. Key responsibilities will include assisting in the day to day tasks to provide further commercial support to both project delivery and estimating teams within the company which can be broken down into the following; Assisting in the prompt presentation for all applications for payment and Final Accounts, including all contractual entitlements / assisting in ensuring that all payments are received accordance with the contract terms, as well as assisting in the preparation and presentation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR) and final cost/value forecasts.The role will also encompass procurement, negotiation and the placing of sub-contract orders; which inevitably leads toassisting in the financial and commercial management of sub-contracts through settlement if Final Accounts. All tasks need a high level detail and pride in presentation, especially when drafting contractual letters/notices to ensure they are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, you will need to be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar. Additionally, you must have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience and this must have been gained whilst working for a construction or civil engineering contractor / subcontractor in the South East.

About the package / benefits:

For this position, we are targeting individuals looking to earn anywhere between £40,000 – £55,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.
