About the company

My client is a family run, mid-sized, self-delivering Civil Engineering contractor who turn over £50M per annum. They are a Scottish based firm who have won work on Severn Trent Water and are looking to grow and develop within the English water market. They pride themselves off the kind, family feel and long-term stability of all their staff. They specialise in water & drainage works, structural repairs as well water infrastructure.

About the opportunity

Due to the company expanding and opening up a new division there is need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the Project Manager, working on a Severn Trent, structural repairs framework. The framework is 3 years’ worth of work with the opportunity to renew it for an extra 2 years. You will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you will be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

Benefits and rewards

My client has an exceptionally low staff turnover, and this is due to the family feel they have created internally making it a great and enjoyable place to work. There is immense opportunity to grow within this business as you will be joining them at the start of there business growth in England. On top of this you will be joining them at the start of the AMP so you can see the full framework from start to finish.

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a salary ranging from £38,000 – £50,000 depending on experience, you will also get a competitive car allowance.

You will be required to have a good standard of education preferably to a Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying related degree

It is important to have experience working for a Civil Engineering contractor based in the UK for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a quantity surveyor and to show good stability at the companies you have worked for (2/3 years at least per company)

You will also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require visiting.
