My client is a well-respected award-winning, tier one main contractor with a turnover of £500+ million per annum. Well known within the industry for its innovative and forward-thinking protocols, the company has maintained its high standards for nearly 150 years. They are known for their exceptional technical capabilities, and high standards of work across the water industry (infrastructure & non-infrastructure). Along with highway infrastructure, environmental projects, and commercial construction. With several in-house capabilities, ranging from design and delivery to commercial management.

About the opportunity

My client was selected as a tier-one contractor for Thames Water AMP7 working specifically within the M4 corridor. They have 4 years left on their framework which is worth £160M, the schemes will be infrastructure, mechanical and electrical (within clean water & Wastewater) and they will be ranging in value from £3M – £10M. As well as working on a great variety of schemes you will also have a great leadership team on top of you, a leadership team with a great amount of experience within Civil Engineering, working for some brilliant companies within the UK Civil Engineering industry, allowing you to learn from some of the best.

You will report to the Senior Quantity Surveyor as well as having support from the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager. You will also need to ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter. On top of this, you will need to liaise with the contracts management in the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts to ensure the financial success of construction operations and to keep the Senior Quantity Surveyor appraised of all material events.

Successful candidates will be working within a team with a multitude of experience in Civil Engineering, Water, Mechanical & Electrical, and Utilities, which will as previously mentioned, improve your technical capabilities and develop your commercial capabilities. Projects are valued between £1 million and £10 million, which allows an opportunity to work on small and medium-size packages.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £40,000–£50,000 + car allowance + private health care.

About the requirements:

Candidates require having high-level education, preferably Degree level (HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification) in either Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.

To be considered for this option, candidates must be experienced Quantity Surveyors within Civil Engineering for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor. Having experience in water infrastructure, and utilities isn’t essential but it is preferred to be considered for this role. Your work history needs to be stable; ideally working at previous companies for 3 years or more.
