About the company

My client is a specialist Water & Civil Engineering contractor turning over £20M per annum. They are, however, part of a larger group turning over £80M +. They focus on design; engineering & construction and they have built up a brilliant reputation with South East Water. The work involves the civil and mechanical design, construction, refurbishment, and commissioning of water treatment works and pumping stations across South East Water’s supply area, serving parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire. The contract they are working on will run until 2025 but they have an option to extend it until 2030, this gives all their team great, long-term stability.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts within the water industry. You will be reporting to a Commercial Manager who has just shy of 15 years of experience working in the water industry, for well-respected contractors, this will help improve yourself as a Quantity Surveyor and learn things in the correct way.

Your day-to-day role will involve the administration of NEC3 contracts, options A & C will be involved, monitoring change control, attending weekly and monthly commercial meetings (at the project level) as well as preparing & submitting monthly valuations and preparing and submitting final accounts.

About the benefits and rewards

Due to my client being a smaller, hands-on contractor, this will mean you will be treated as a name and not a number, you will be rewarded for performing at a high standard. On top of this, you will also be reporting to a very good Commercial Manager which will allow you to develop and improve your commercial ability.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £45,000–£55,000 + company car/car allowance.

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor working within the utility industry, for a UK-based contractor. I am looking for someone who has pre & post-contract experience, working on NEC3 contracts.

You will undertake general surveying of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and Commercial Manager.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers can be considered.
