About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined tier one main contractor who are currently turning over £280M. They are cash rich, family run company and they specialise within a number of sectors such as multi utility’s, water and civil engineering. This position has come about due to continued and strategic ongoing growth but while the business is looking to expand they are also keen to maintain their family feel atmosphere where it’s a fun working environment and everyone is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the managing quantity surveyors and commercial managers across the company.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts on underground cabling. They have a 10 year contract put in place throughout London, so there’s long term work put in place and the project valuations will range from £300,000 up to £15M. One of the best examples of progression within the company is my client moving his way up from a trainee quantity surveyor to a managing quantity surveyor throughout his time at the company.  The managing quantity surveyor is energetic, fun, very approachable, very knowledgeable and a great person to learn from and work with, he likes to have a one to one relationship with his staff.

You will undertake general surveying of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and Commercial Manager.

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial management or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within Civil Engineering for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. Your work history should be stable; ideally you should have worked at your previous companies for a number of years.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers can be considered.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
