About the company

My client is a specialist Water & Civil Engineering contractor turning over £20M per annum. They are, however, part of a larger group turning over £90M +. They focus on design; engineering & construction and they have built up a brilliant reputation with South East Water. The work involves the civil and mechanical design, construction, refurbishment, and commissioning of water treatment works and pumping stations across South East Water’s supply area, serving parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire. The contract they are working on will run until 2025 but they have an option to extend it until 2030, this gives all their team great, long-term stability.

About the role 

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts within wastewater & clean water, with all the works being high volume, low-cost work.

On top of that, you’ll be working for one of the best names within the London water scene. The commercial director has a brilliant reputation and he can offer his knowledge to help develop your experience and the company has a great reputation for delivering projects to a high standard, so you can be sure to be gaining experience in the right way. The role itself gives you a great opportunity to grow and progress throughout the company whilst it allows you to take good responsibility for the work that you’re producing (i.e. you won’t be micro-managed).

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC, or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Project Quantity Surveyor within the utility industry for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. Your work history should be stable; ideally, you should have worked at your previous companies for several years, ideally within the water.

You will undertake general surveying of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and Commercial Manager.
