About the company:

My client is a family-owned company turning over £300M. They still have several members of the family working for the company in different regions, meaning the family identity and values are maintained throughout the whole of the company. They are a national contractor working in the Southeast, Northwest, London & Scotland. They work in several different industries such as water, power, multi utilities, civil engineering & infrastructure as well as Traffic Management.

Being one of the leading names in Utilities and Civil Engineering, the client has a low turnover of staff. People like to stay at this company for a long time because of the high standards of work they set and the huge opportunities within the company to progress, develop and grow.

My client has landed a few huge contracts with the likes of HS2, Thames Water, Southeast Water, and UKPN. This is due to the standard of work they produce and because of their huge diversity programme. Diversity is something they take very seriously and something they like to involve within the company culture; a concept that is brilliant to see within the modern construction industry.

About the opportunity

Due to growth, my client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team for their South East Water projects. The projects that you will be working on will be a mixture of high volume, low value works as well as some huge long-term infrastructure projects which involve water pipelines of up to 20KM. The role will involve reporting directly to the Commercial Manager and developing relationships with clients, analysing weekly and monthly cost and revenue data as well as producing a ‘Schedule of Rates’, and managing sub-contractors.

About the benefits and rewards

This company is open to a hands-on Assistant Quantity Surveyor with 3-4 years of experience and looking to move into a Quantity Surveyor. With this brilliant opportunity, there is a long-term option to progress into Senior Quantity Surveyor within 2-3 years. You will be working under an extremely easy-going and approachable Commercial Manager, having originally started within this company as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, this shows that they do offer career progression and development. They celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. The competitive salary will range from £35,000-£50,000, with 24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, pension, a company car or car allowance, and private healthcare is included.

About the requirements

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to a Foundation Degree level (HND or HNC) in Construction, Civils, Commercial Management, or Quantity Surveying (or hold an equivalent qualification). Stability is a necessity, with at least 3-4 years of experience working under a UK-based Civil Engineering Contractor. UK driver’s license is essential as you will be traveling to various sites throughout the week.
