About the company

My client is a family owned Rail sub-contractor who are turning over £10-£15M. They are based on the outskirts of Hertfordshire with great transport links into central London. They have a very good reputation in the sector, sub-contracting for main contractors such as AMCO, Colas Rail and Volkerfitzpatrick as well has having strong relationships with Network Rail and London Underground. My client specialises in Platform extensions, platform upgrades, groundworks and concrete works within a rail environment. The founding owner of the company still has a huge involvement and you would be reporting to him directly.

About the Opportunity

The company are now looking to bring a Quantity Surveyor on board due to the work load continuing to increase. They are looking for somebody who has got a strong background of working on London Underground and Network rail projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships. The company are a privately-owned company and they want somebody who’s looking for a calm and fun working environment and somebody who will easily get on well with a small commercial team.

You will undertake general surveying of projects as required, which will include reviewing and pricing variations and preparing valuations for the respective Project Manager and MD.

You’ll be required to have experience working as a senior quantity surveyor/Quantity Surveyor for a sub-contractor within the rail sector (ideally tier 2/tier 3 company).

It is important that you have shown strong stability throughout your career working for tier 2 companies with at least 10 years’ experience working in the sector.
