About the company:

Our client is a leading independent Practice of Construction Professionals that has been established since 1982. The Practice provides particular expertise in Building Surveying and Lead Consultancy, Quantity Surveying and Cost Consultancy, Project Management, Employer’s Agent, and Party Wall Surveying.

Our client operates as two complementary divisions; Chartered Surveying and Project Management, and Chartered Building Consultancy; each division respectively sustains a high level of delivering successful projects to an exceptional standard.

The relatively small size of the firm, which includes 10 people, means that the Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and Building Surveyors are required to possess a range of skills and experience across different sectors for both project and professional competencies. The Surveyors are supported by a Team Administrator and report directly into the Commissions Director.

About the role:

An opportunity has arisen within the Chartered Surveying and Project Management Department for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the Head Office located in Essex. Working closely with the Surveyors and Project Managers, you will be a key member of staff and therefore must have a confident, hands on approach in order to be a reliable contributor in the commercial team.

Your primary focus will be to competently prepare tender documents, run projects as Contracts Administrator or Employers Agent, undertake feasibility reports and cost estimates for refurbishments and alteration projects, and undertake surveys and reports for defect diagnosis and planned maintenance condition surveys.

As projects cover the Industrial, Retail, Residential and Commercial sectors you can expect a fair amount of variety in your role on a day to day basis.

About the benefits and rewards:

The package on offer for this position is £45,000 – £60,000 base + pension + travel expenses, depending on sector knowledge and experience.

About the requirements:

Working in a senior capacity within the surveying team you can expect to operate in a lead / mentoring role, providing guidance to junior members as appropriate.

In addition, you will demonstrate the following:

·Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

·Understanding of the administrative requirements of the JCT Intermediate and JCT Design and Build contracts
