About the company

My client is a multi-disciplined tier 2 contractor who specialises in highway maintenance, highway infrastructure, traffic management, and the environmental sector. The company is huge on the long-term stability and career progression of its team.  This is helped by the repeat business they get in Surrey and Hampshire which is a result of their high standard of work. They get a lot of repeat business with main contractors such as Kier & Balfour Beatty. It is also helped by the close bond from the management team all the way down to the engineers. Choosing only to work in Surrey and Hampshire means they have real pride in helping out the local communities and charities whenever they have the opportunity to.

About the role

This is a superb, diverse, and exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor on roads, highways maintenance, highways infrastructure, traffic management, reactive maintenance, S278 works, and civil engineering projects. Due to widespread project variations, this also means you will work on a variety of contracts, mainly NEC but you’ll also work on ICC contracts and JCT. The size of the projects will be mainly £5M/£6M but you could work on anything ranging in value from £10,000 – £30M. The types of works you’ll be involved in can range between drainage, groundworks, earthworks, concrete works, and piling. Some of the duties will involve successfully managing contracts to Final Account status, maximising profitability, and building relationships with clients, to encourage repeat business. You will also be involved in maximising cash flow through the management of the debtors’ report, ensuring the information is up to date for senior management weekly as well as preparing, submitting, and agreeing on final accounts with both Clients and Subcontractors.

Benefits and Rewards

This is an opportunity to work for a friendly contractor who can offer you long-term stability and progression. They’re a contractor with a very low staff turnover, this shows they look after their staff and respect their staff, as well as keep them busy. On top of this, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary ranging between £50,000 – £60,000 + a car allowance.

Requirements

It is essential you have good stability as a Quantity Surveyor working for a Civil Engineering contractor that has self-delivered highways and road infrastructure projects. It would be preferred that you have a degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management.
