My client is a multi-disciplined tier 2 contractor who specialise in highways maintenance, highways infrastructure, traffic management, rail and the environmental sector. The company is huge on the long-term stability and career progression of their team.  This is helped by the repeat business they get in Surrey and Hampshire which is a result of their high standard of work. They get a lot of repeat business with main contractors such as Kier & Balfour Beatty. They also Main Contract on projects with Highways England and Local Authorities, it is also helped by the close bond from the management team all the way down to the engineers.

About the role

Due to the company rebuilding their commercial team, there is need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the senior quantity surveyor, within the Highways sector of the company. You will be responsible for managing costs with the goal of making as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

The projects that you’ll be involved in will be highways and road maintenance and highways infrastructure projects.

No free lances will be considered.

Requirements

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within highways for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a quantity surveyor and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
