About the company 

The company that I am recruiting for is a leading name within the highways, roads, and civil engineering sector within the M25. Since starting up the company in the late 1970’s they have become a very trusted partner with many councils within East and South London, working with the likes of TFL, Tower Hamlets, and The City of London. The firm specialise in Civil Engineering and improvement schemes, winter maintenance, surfacing term maintenance, and utility infrastructure. Projects that they’re involved with normally range in value from £250,000 up to £10M.

About the role

Due to the company rebuilding their commercial team, there is a need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the senior quantity surveyor, within the Highways sector of the company. You will be responsible for managing costs to make as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

The projects that you’ll be involved in will be highways and road maintenance and highways infrastructure projects.

No freelances will be considered.

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND, HNC) in a Construction, Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within highways for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a quantity surveyor and to show good long-term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
