About the company 

My client is a hand on, a self-delivering main contractor with a brilliant reputation working within Civil Engineering & Rail. They are currently turning over £230M per annum and have a very healthy pipeline of work. The types of works that they specialise in involve highway infrastructure, bridge infrastructure, train station upgrades, highway maintenance, and the public realm. The projects and schemes they get involved in can range anywhere from £1M – £70M+. 

About the role

Due to the company expanding, there is a need for a Quantity Surveyor to support the senior quantity surveyor, within the Highways sector of the company. You will be responsible for managing costs to make as much profit as possible for the company on the projects you’ll be working on and ensuring delivery of payment whilst developing client relationships. The successful individual will be involved in viewing and evaluating payments including site measurements as necessary) and will undertake general surveying of projects as required including reviewing and pricing of variations and preparing valuations with Project Managers and the Commercial Director.

The types of projects will involve highways & road infrastructure. The works will involve drainage, RC structures, earthworks, and utilities. 

No free lances will be considered.

Requirements 

You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, commercial management or quantity surveying or equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within highways for a tier 1 or tier 2 company as a quantity surveyor and to show good long-term stability at the companies you have worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit
