Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering

  • £40,000 - £50,000 + Package
  • Civil Engineering
  • Kent

Are you Kent based and bored of commuting to London? Are you interested in working in a great commercial team?

About the company

My client is a family-owned company turning over £300M. They still have several members of the family working for the company in different regions, meaning the family identity and values are maintained throughout the whole of the company. They are a national contractor, doing work in the South East, North West, London & Scotland. They work in several different industries such as water, power, multi utilities, civil engineering & infrastructure as well as Traffic Management.

Being one of the leading names in Utilities and Civil Engineering, the client has a low turnover of staff. People like to stay at this company for a long time because of the high standards of work they set and the huge opportunities within the company to progress, develop and grow.

My client has landed a few huge contracts with the likes of HS2, Thames Water, South East Water, and UKPN. This is due to the standard of work they produce and because of their huge diversity programme. Diversity is something they take very seriously and something they like to involve within the company culture; a concept that is brilliant to see within the modern construction industry.

About the opportunity

Due to growth, my client is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team for their South East Water projects. The projects that you will be working on will be a mixture of high volume, low value works as well as some huge long-term infrastructure projects which involve water pipelines of up to 20KM. The role will involve reporting directly to the Commercial Manager and developing relationships with clients, analysing weekly and monthly cost and revenue data as well as producing a ‘Schedule of Rates’, and managing sub-contractors.

Benefits & Rewards

You will be rewarded with a basic wage ranging between £40,000 – £50,000 + a car allowance and private healthcare. On top of this, you will be joining a contractor who has seen several Commercial Managers start off as a Trainee and move their way up to the leadership team. This shows that they do promote within and look after their staff.

I am looking for someone who is degree qualified in Quantity Surveying & Commercial Management or a financial-based degree. On top of this, I am looking for someone with good stability throughout their CV, working for each company for at least 3 years. You must have experience working for a UK-based Civil Engineering contractor as a Quantity Surveyor.
