About the company

My client is a specialist Water & Civil Engineering contractor turning over £20M per annum. They are, however, part of a larger group turning over £90M. They focus on design; engineering & construction and they have built up a brilliant reputation with South East Water. The work involves the civil and mechanical design, construction, refurbishment, and commissioning of water treatment works and pumping stations across South East Water’s supply area, serving parts of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire. The contract they are working on will run until 2025 but they have an option to extend it until 2030, this gives all their team great, long-term stability.

About the opportunity:

As an Quantity Surveyor, will be responsible for managing costs across projects, ensuring each is profitable. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on NEC contracts within wastewater & clean water, with all the works being high volume, low-cost work. General duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Administration of NEC3 contracts, Options A and C including PSC;
  • Maintain contract project documentation;
  • Preparation and issue of EWN’s and CE’s to the supply chain and clients;
  • Attend weekly and monthly commercial meetings at a project level;
  • Monitor change control at a project level;
  • Liaise with the programmer(s) at a project level;
  • Pre, during and post contract liaison with clients and supply chain;
  • Supply chain negotiation and letting package of work;
  • Manage and value variations/ CE’s;
  • Preparation and submission of monthly valuations;
  • Preparation and submission of final accounts;
  • Preparation and submission of project tenders including follow up;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant client representatives and the supply chain;
  • To carry out any other duties appropriate to this post

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and hold a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience within the civil engineering industry, whilst working in the UK.

You must hold working knowledge of NEC 3 min and subcontract contract forms and as this is a permanent opportunity, you must be able to demonstrate stability of employment. Unfortunately, no freelancers can be considered.

Furthermore, a UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
