The Company

Our client is a successful mid sized main contractor, that has consistently performed and produced profit for over 30 years. The operate in the private and public sector, covering new build and refurbishment contracts, undertaking project in the Education, Health, Industrial, leisure and retail markets. Working on buildings varying from hospitals, school, churches to sports halls and private residences, and their enviable track record is based on expertise, experience and responsive environment. Staff progression and development is important to the company. Recent successful tendering has led to a strong order book through 2019 which has led the need to selectively recruit for key commercial and operational roles within the business. Repeat business is important to the company, as well as successfully tendering. They work throughout London and the home counties, recent contracting include a £3.5m internal and external refurbishment of a listed school, refurbishment works at Queens Club, and a £9m design and build residence in north London.

The Role

Our client is currently looking for a progressive Quantity Surveyor that has knowledge of the new build and refurbishment processes within the main contract building environment typically covering education, healthcare, commercial, retail, leisure, residential and specialist projects. The individual will be expected to take projects from pre-award tender process through to completion.

Your duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Attend pre start, specification and any other relevant concept meeting as required
  • Sub-contract tendering and procurement to meet required deadlines
  • Responsible for subcontractor payments, variation orders and day works and settlement of final accounts
  • Monitoring and explaining cost movements.
  • Take specifications and drawings from Construction handover and prepare suitable packages for tender.
  • Undertake monthly cost reports and estimate future likely cost expenditure.
  • Report on savings and excesses against budget costs to the Managing Surveyor/Commercial Director.
  • Be aware of all codes of practice that impact on surveying e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.
  • Any other duties as required by the Managing Surveyor/Commercial Director.

About the Benefits/Rewards:

The base package is circa £60,000 – £75,000 + car, healthcare, pension scheme.
