About the company

My Client are a Tier 2, privately owned, family run contractor who are multi-disciplined in Civil Engineering, specialising in highways maintenance & groundworks projects. They currently operate at a turnover of £30M PA and are looking to grow in other parts of Civil Engineering. They are in a great financial situation with no debts. The owner of the business comes from an Engineering background and was on the board of directors for one of the largest Civil Engineering contractors in the UK. They have an order book of £80M already for the next 5 years and this is helped with large contracts with Essex County Council, Thurrock County Council and Bedfordshire County Council.

Job Description:

I am looking for a Project Manager with experience in Groundworks and road packages to work on a project based in Bedford Town Centre. The project is working on the regeneration of the town centre, covering works such as paving, kerbing & drainage.

Project Managers are required to lead an entire site team responsible for health and safety, resources allocation, team management, planning and monitoring progress of projects, budget management, procurement of materials and technical queries as well as dealing with the client & general public daily.

Main duties include accountability for the following:

  • Project Delivery.
  • Manage the day-to-day working, from ensuring the correct material turns up before a job, to explaining the work ethics and activities to colleagues.
  • Managing the foremen, labour and plant.
  • Communication and information flow with the contracts manager and the client.
  • Implementing the company health & safety management systems and procedures and quality assurance procedures.
  • Report progress on projects, maintain and update project reporting, checkpoints and financial reporting to a high standard.
  • Co-ordinate required support levels and training.
  • Developing the programme of work and strategy for the project, planning to prevent problems on site before they occur.
  • Communicating with a range of people including the client, subcontractors, suppliers, the public and the workforce.

About the Package:

My client is looking to pay between £250 – £300 a day.
