To date, out client has successfully completed over 450 technical projects throughout the UK and overseas for local authorities, residential and commercial developers, main contractors and consultants either in the role of principal contractor or subcontractor which range from small spills through to large multi-technology soil and groundwater remediation / development platform preparation on brownfield sites.

About the opportunity:

Due to company expansion and healthy order books, my client is recruiting permanently for an experienced Project / Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Director’s you will be accountable for managing the clients expectations and supervising projects and site staff, including identifying training and development.

Main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Communicate clearly with the client and Site Manager
  • Manage the clients expectations and improve the likelihood of repeat business
  • Attend office meetings and allocate site staff / teams to present and new works
  • Write, implement and continually evaluate and improve method statements, risk assessments and PPE
  • Ensure clear delivery of method statements and risk assessments to the site team to address all risks.  Ensure each employee signs for the information provided.
  • Monitor and act on project performance through a review of remediation targets against actual results – inform Project Director if goals not being achieved
  • Assist in setting the project budget and spend
  • Lead monthly project reviews with the entire project team
  • Prepare, implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Conduct Health, Safety and EMS/QA audits on site
  • Ensure pre-let meetings are held with sub contractors
  • Monitor and maintain efficient use of plant, personnel and materials
  • Organise staff training (internal and external)
  • Compile Health and Safety pre-qualifications
  • Review and act on costs reports and cost to complete exercises presented by the site quantity surveyor
  • Continually identify variations to the contract by having a clear understanding of the contract requirements / specification from the outset of the project – these changes to be communicated to the site team and the client
  • Assist in tender reviews, collating prices and methodologies for sites
  • Initiate and lead the submission of contract completion reports
  • Follow up on all accidents on site involving the collection of witness statements, records, signed inductions, etc to protect the Company’s position if claims are sought
  • Initiate insurance claims
  • Assist in preparing sub contract orders with commercial team, and review of their health & safety documentation
  • Organise building safety group to visit live projects and act on any recommendations
  • Prepare and submit landfill tax exemptions
  • Forward plan a programme of works
  • Ensure the Mobile treatment license is being implemented as per the deployment form.
  • Write, implement and monitor the site traffic management plan
  • Review and repeat site inductions / tool box talks to address site risks
  • Submit near miss reports to enable company learning and reduce the likelihood of accidents on site

About the benefits and rewards:

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals who are looking to earn anywhere between £50,000 – £55,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability.  Additionally, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must have vast experience in bulk earthworks, remediation and site clearance and knowledge of drafting and delivering projects under materials management plans / definition of waste code of practice. Furthermore, you must hold an SMSTS, CSCS Black Card and a WAMITAB qualification. Experience in using, administering and managing EMS and QA systems to ISO9001 and 14001 is also essential.
