About the company

My client is a well-respected award-winning, tier one main contractor with a turnover of £300+ million per annum. A business with an innovative forward-thinking mindset to allow them to consistently provide clean water and power to millions. Well known for its involvement in major frameworks and major projects, this company has built a fantastic reputation within the civil engineering sector.

They are known for their exceptional technical capabilities, high standards of work across the water industry (infrastructure & non-infrastructure). Along with energy infrastructure, Traffic Management, plant, and General Civil Engineering infrastructure. With several in-house capabilities, ranging from design and delivery to commercial management.

About the opportunity

My client was selected as sub-contractor for the HS2, utility packages based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. They are looking for a Project Manager who is eager to come in and make an impact on leading the delivery of the utility packages on HS2. As well as working on a flagship, major project you will also have a great leadership team on top of you, a leadership team with a great amount of experience within Civil Engineering, working for some brilliant companies within the UK Civil Engineering industry, allowing you to learn from some of the best.

You will be responsible for managing, leading, and developing multiple packages within the capital business unit. This involves managing designated project work to ensure completion to the company’s high standards, undertaking regular site visits, and attending meetings regarding the progress of the project (start to finish). Providing an innovative approach to improving proposed delivery strategies to execute the project plans efficiently. Along with demonstrating high-quality leadership and promoting collaborative behaviour within the team and maintaining a close working relationship with the Client. You will be involved in design management, delivery of works, and working closely with the commercial department to oversee the commercial aspects of the project.

Benefits & Rewards

This is a great opportunity to work on HS2, one of the largest, most complex & technically challenging projects the UK has ever faced. This will be great for your development, giving you the opportunity to improve your technical capabilities. On top of this, you will be working for one of the leading utility contractors in the UK, a contractor with a low staff turnover and a great pipeline of work, offering you long term stability. You will be rewarded with a great basic salary ranging in value between £60,000 – £70,000 + a car allowance.

Requirements

I am looking for someone who has at least 10 years’ experience working in Civil Engineering and at least 5 years’ experience working on utility projects, self-delivering the utility packages & projects. It isn’t essential but it is preferred that you come from an engineering background and have moved your way up to management level. It is essential that you have strong job stability throughout your career, working for each employer for at least 3 years at a time. It is important you also have experience dealing with rail clients, for example LUL, TFL, NR, HS2 or Crossrail.
