The Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to lead a new build transport hub in West London. The project is circa £4m and will include offices and a multi vehicle forecourt. This project will require a manager who is familiar with a diverse range of build types and sectors, as beyond this projects others may include residential, commercial, industrial and leisure. Therefore, the manager must have a diverse skill set and delivery portfolio.

Daily duties will include; Overseeing and managing the project using internal labour and outside agency staff whilst managing sub-contractors on a daily basis. Other responsibilities include first aid, review of sub-contractors method statements, weekly progress report to the Construction Director, liaising with architects, designers, buyers and sub-contractors.

Duties will include:

  • The ability to create, and edit programs and follow accordingly
  • A proven record in managing site teams including design team
  • A good understanding of contracts, contract law and the construction act
  • The ability to work alongside the Commercial Manager to ensure the project is profitable
  • Maintaining effective and long term relationships with the customer and their representatives and advisors
  • Implementing and maintaining company strategy and polices for sustainability, health and safety, quality, environmental, training and development
  • Ensuring the project team comply with the company’s business management system
  • Being proactive in the resolution of problems
  • Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials in order to maximise commercial profitability
  • Managing, supporting, mentoring and counselling members of the project team in their personal development
  • Seeking and developing on-going continuous improvement

Our client is a main contracting business with a wealth of history in specialist construction projects. Within the past year the business has been acquired by a larger holding group. While retaining the heritage and tradition the business now has broadened their capabilities throughout the Home Counties, South East and East Anglia. Our client is a true general contractor, undertaking contracts within the £1m – £20m range, operating in the Commercial & Industrial, Prime residential, Retail & Leisure, Health and Public & Community. About the benefits and reward:

The base package is circa £70,000 – £80,000 and the company main ambition is to bring an individual into the organisation with the ability to grow and become a valued member of the team.

Requirements:

The individual concerned will have previous experience as a Project Manager or a Senior Engineer with Project Management aspirations. Experience across multi sectors (residential, commercial, leisure, public & private sector) is required. CIOB or similar qualifications preferred.
