Project Manager – £20m RC Frame & Groundwork Package – Harrow

  • £80,000 - £100,000
  • Civil Engineering
  • London

Project Manager needed for a £20m RC frame & groundwork package in Harrow.

Initial Project:

Harrow – Circa £20m package including three RC frames and all associated groundworks

About the Opportunity:

I am looking for a Project Manager capable of overseeing a RC Frame & Groundwork package on a new residential project in Harrow, Middlesex. This is a larger package, so experience needs to reflect capability of delivering RC frame packages of £10m or above.

I can only consider Project Managers from an engineering background that have worked predominantly for concrete frame & groundwork subcontractors in the UK.

As the Project Manager, you will be expected to manage the complete concrete frames construction with all the associated groundworks and foundations. You’ll be supported with an on-site foreman and engineering team, but it will be your responsibility to keep the project to programme while maintaining safety on site and controlling the budget. This is a client facing role with paperwork duties, so technically minded managers are required that have a proven background seeing these packages through from planning stages through to completion.

About the Employer:

Based just outside London this specialist subcontractor is still growing year on year and with an annual turnover of circa £100m for 2021, they are looking to surpass this, this year based on work secured and negotiated already (turnover for 2022 already expected to be around £130m). Usual packages range from £5m up to £30m each and include a variety of basement works, groundworks and multi-story concrete frames.

This business has close-knit senior management and the successful individual can expect to join a business that values every individual. As the business grows there is definitely room for progression, so those looking to develop towards contracts management in the coming years, can be sure there is no glass ceiling here.

This position will report directly to either a contracts manager or the operations director of the business. And it is worth pointing out, this position is available immediately as the new project has recently been secured with the start date on site agreed for the coming weeks.

About the Requirements / Experience Needed:

I am looking for individuals who are degree qualified in civil engineering and have already progressed through the ranks to project management level. You may be recently stepped up to this level or may have been doing it for a number of years, but it is crucial you have come from this background and having gained this technical management experience while working in the subcontract concrete frame and groundwork sector.

In addition to the above I am looking for someone who is keen to be involved with the bigger picture. Due to the size of this company you’ll have a direct working relationship with all the business unit heads and you’ll all be working together towards the future of the business (i.e. strengthening client relationships even further on every project you are involved with). I can see this company continuing to grow so future progression is available for people showing capability and drive.

Salary / Benefits Available:

Packages are always based on individual’s backgrounds and experience level but as a rough guide I am looking to consider anyone looking to earn anywhere from £80,000 to £100,000 per annum OR if self-employed £350 – £450 per day.

This can be broken down in a number of ways and this business is open to people of a PAYE or self-employed basis. Bonuses are paid to those who exceed basic expectations and benefits include travel / car allowances and pension.

About Me, Your Consultant:

My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 17 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition.

So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on each of them, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward.

I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths, I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is simply to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with you over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

It would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR laws, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to discuss options.
