Our client is an award-winning, SME contractor that operates within the public and private sectors throughout London. They formed over 30 years ago and their portfolio includes significant heritage/conservation, educational projects, commercial fit-out, new build and private residential refurbishment developments. Significant projects include refurbishment works on the Grade 1 Listed British Museum and the remodeling and conversion of a famous Theatre School to form residential apartments. Their projects range from a few thousand up to £10m in value and they currently have a turnover in excess of £40m. They are a debt-free and profitable company and are highly regarded within the construction industry due to the exceptional quality of their service and workmanship. About the opportunity

Our client has a Project Management opportunity, initially managing a complex £7m hospital extension, with a large M&E package. It is based in Watford and you will be required to interact closely with the client at all stages of the construction process.

You will need to have the ability to create, and edit programs accordingly, you must have a proven record in managing site teams including design team as well as having a good understanding of contracts, contract law and the construction act. If successful, you will work alongside the Commercial Manager to ensure the project is profitable and maintaining effective and long term relationships with the customer and their representatives and advisors.

As a Project Manager, you will be implementing and maintaining company strategy and policies for sustainability, health and safety, quality, environmental, training and development while ensuring the project team complies with the company’s business management system. You will need to be proactive with problem-solving and reviewing methods of working, alternative materials in order to maximize commercial profitability. The position will also require the successful individual to develop and control assigned project staff to establish and maintain highly motivated and dedicated project management teams including, managing, supporting, mentoring and counselling members of the project team in their personal development.

About the benefits and rewards:

Salary will be in the region of £60,000 – £80,000. In addition to this, you will receive a generous benefits package including Pension, Healthcare and Bonuses.

About the requirements:

You will be experienced in the management of new build and refurbishment projects in excess of £5million up to £10million, ideally across varying sectors (public/private/education/residential). The ideal individual will be highly motivated, idea-driven and capable of exceeding expectations. Lateral thinking and highly developed problem-solving abilities should be coupled with a very strong academic or a trade background with a track record of managing projects.
