About the opportunity:


My client is currently looking for a Project Director to work as number 1 on a £70m residential tower in Luton. Positioned in the centre of Luton Town Centre and just approved after a number of planning and design changes, this project is one for the portfolio! Due to the size and scale of the project, my client would like to place a Construction Director on this job alone to oversee all construction activity. This individual will have absolute responsibility for the project, taking it from procurement stage right through to completion with responsibility for the master programme, quality, H&S and profit & loss.


The successful professional will be comfortable working as a Construction Director at corporate level, dealing with senior stakeholders of all varieties, as well as coming from a background of number one Project Manager on projects of similar value to this, who is happy to keep his boots on the ground and be involved in the project. The successful professional will execute the designated projects, to the agreed programme, with the highest regards to health, safety, environmental and quality standards expected by the client and company, and the financial performance budgeted by the company.

My client is a privately-owned property development and construction company with significant assets & liquidity, over 80 live projects and a clear cut, stable position in the market with a focus on new build hotels, super prime leisure refurbishments and large-scale new build residential. With net assets in the region of £2bn, and further land acquisition underway all the time, the project portfolio for this group is substantial and ever growing. The construction arm of this business work as an in-house Construction Management team with the group’s interest at its core focus and their supply chain of approved sub-contractors ready and waiting. The current team is made of senior level industry experts with backgrounds ranging from consultancies, developers and main contractors. About the requirements:


Professionals must have extensive industry experience, directly relating to large scale residential projects, and must be commercially focused. They must be easily able to manage and motivate their team. They must show the contractual knowledge to identify risks and opportunities with clients and subcontractors and have the ability to programme the works and identify key interfaces, risks and opportunities in the construction process.


Experience of leading projects of the same type and scale is a must, along with a stable career history spent with good, well known companies.


About the benefits and rewards:


The salary will be dependent on level of exposure to industry and experience on related projects. The company offers excellent opportunities and offers a basic salary around £100,000 – £110,000. The package will also include various benefits relating to travel and healthcare.
