Preconstruction Manager – Concrete Frames & Groundworks

£75,000 – £95,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity:

Our client is looking for a key figure to head up their pre-construction and planning department. The focus of the role will be split between pre-contract and post contract activities but both sides will require an excellent technical knowledge of RC frame construction including various methods (slip-form, post tension, ect) and techniques to help provide the best service to clients. With this role being also very client orientated, candidates will need to be confident when dealing with clients and have an element of problem solving in their approach to this sector. Once projects are secure you will be responsible for heading up the department that manages the step-by-step planning for each contract.

The Requirements:

Due to the nature of this position, we are either looking for an experienced project manager or contracts manager that is looking to step into this role or someone who is already in a preconstruction management role with a rival concrete frame & groundwork contractor in the UK. Candidates from a very technical Project Management background will be considered if heavy pre-contracts experience can be shown along with post contract planning ability. Candidates will need to be skilled in client negotiations and interaction, and will need to have a strong technical knowledge of RC frame construction and associated groundworks. Estimated sizes of packages are targeted at between £5 million to £45 million so the ideal candidate will need to have previous experience of working in one of the mentioned roles on frames of this size ideally.

The Employer:

Established over 30 years ago this Reinforced Concrete Frame & Groundwork specialist has gone from strength to strength winning medium to large contracts with some of the top main contractors and developers in the UK. They have a strong in-house team of experienced directors and experienced management underneath and an excellent reputation for offering the best service that this sector can offer. Their combined knowledge allows them to compete in this tough sector at the highest levels which is why they are a well known and respected name in this market. The business is still privately owned, with a low staff turnover and focuses on work mainly in the London and Home Counties areas.

The Package on Offer:

This position will be a significant position within this business. Initial salary levels have been left open so we can consider people at all levels. Packages will include; company car / car allowance, health cover, pension, bonus scheme, full holiday pay if PAYE. If you have experience in this level of role in this sector, please get in touch to discuss further.

About Me, Your Consultant:

My name is Andrew Jackson and I am one of the founding directors of Cityscape Recruitment Ltd. I have over 17 years of experience in civil engineering & construction recruitment, during which time, I have specialised in the niche sectors of concrete frames, groundworks, basement construction and demolition.

So, what does that mean for you? It means, I work with the vast majority of the groundwork & concrete frame businesses in the UK and I can help not only introduce you, but I can give you up to date information on each of them, helping you make an informed decision so you can take your career forward.

I’ve been doing this for a while now and I’ve maintained a positive reputation doing what I do because I don’t tell people false truths, I tell them everything I know and then let them choose. My job is simply to get you the options, give you the information and then let you decide what feels right for you.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with you over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner (you can get to know me while I get to know you). And I know this is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

It would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR laws, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to discuss options.
