About the company

The company that I’m recruiting for is a privately owned, leading name within the Highways, Bridges, and Civil Engineering sector within England. They have become a very trusted partner with my many clients within Kent, Essex, Norfolk, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, East Midlands, and Yorkshire. The firm specialises in S278 and S38 works, as well as construction and maintenance work for all types of highways, from minor roads to motorways and major route construction. They also specialise in bridge infrastructure, utilities, and rail. The projects that they get generally involve plenty of concrete works, deep drainage, and major earthworks. My client prides themselves on the way they treat their staff, there’s a brilliant working environment there. I have placed several people with this client, and all of them are still there and loving it.

About the role

Due to my client continuing to grow they are now looking for a Planner to join their Pre-Construction team. You will be working closely with the Contracts Manager to establish the build sequence and deep drainage strategy for each tender. Then preparing tender programmes and graphics to suit, plus pricing preliminaries. You will also be involved in attending tender interviews as required including input into presentations and you will be involved in regular site visits to monitor progress against the Contract programme and attendance at meetings as necessary.

The successful candidate will also be involved in planning activities to go in line with the tender and contract requirements, liaise with management and engineers to review the progress of construction projects, and address issues. The software you will be using will be Microsoft and P6.

The types of projects you will work on will vary between S278 works, S38, highways infrastructure, bridges, and environmental schemes, projects will range in value between £1M – £25M.

Benefits and Rewards

This is an opportunity to work for a friendly contractor who can offer you long-term stability and a relaxed and fun working environment. They are a contractor with a very low staff turnover, this shows they look after their staff and respect their staff, as well as keep them busy. On top of this, you will be rewarded with a competitive salary ranging between £50,000 – £65,000 + a car allowance.

Requirements

You must have good stability as a Planner working for a Civil Engineering contractor that has self-delivered highways and road infrastructure projects. You must have an operational understanding and have used programmes such as P6.
