My client is the biggest utility contractor within the UK turning over £850M, specialising in gas, water, electric, fibre and power. They are a tier one main contractor but they also sub contract utility packages on large contracts. The opportunities to grow within the company are huge, they are always expanding and they like to promote within and reward their staff. You will be working in their offices in North London, they are very high end and polished and it makes it a great environment to work in. The reputation of my client is brilliant, they are known for completing work on time and to a great standard, because of this they have landed some big contracts with HS2, Thames Water, Anglian Water, UKPN and Southern Water.

About the role

Due to some internal promotions within the company my client is now looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their very experienced and senior team. The contract you will be working on is valued at £1B, they are 3 years into a 5-year contract with the opportunity to increase the contract for another 10 years, it’s guaranteed long term work and stability for the right candidate. The contract is working on high volume, low cost work within the water industry covering all of London.

You will be working underneath some brilliant people. The director of the contract who you will have a good working relationship has a brilliant reputation and has one of the best names within the water industry. He has 20 years’ experience working within the water industry and he has 15 years’ experience working as a director for some of the best names within water.  He is very approachable, very easy to speak to, very witty and very knowledgeable, the director would make it a very enjoyable place to work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across multiple projects, ensuring each is profitable for the Company. You will be involved with the reviewing, evaluation and delivery of payments as well as developing client relationships.

The role is a permanent position. No freelancers will be considered.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from 65,000 – £75,000 + company car/car allowance.

About the requirements:

You are required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC or equivalent qualification) in either Construction, Civils, Commercial management or Quantity Surveying.

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a Managing Quantity Surveyor within Utilities for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. Your work history should be stable; ideally you should have worked at your previous companies for a number of years.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.

Experience on high volume low cost work is vital.
