ABOUT THE COMPANY
My client is the biggest utility contractor within the UK turning over £850M. They are part of a larger group that has an order book of £2.1B. They are a tier one main contractor but they also sub contract utility packages on large contracts. They are a leading provider in the water and wastewater infrastructure sector and employ around 3000 people in the UK. The opportunities to grow within the company are huge, they are always expanding and they like to promote within and reward their staff. You will be working in their new offices in Reading, they are very high end and polished and it makes it a great environment to work in. The reputation of my client is brilliant, they are known for completing work on time and to a great standard, because of this they have landed some big contracts with HS2 and Thames Water.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to my client continuing to grow they are now looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their very experienced commercial team. The contract you will be working on is valued at £1B, they are 3 years into a 5-year contract with opportunity to increase the contract for another 10 years, it’s guaranteed long term work and stability for the right candidate. The role will consist of looking after £100M+ worth of work per annum. The contract is working on high volume low cost work within the water industry covering all of London. Works will include shafts, rising mains, pipe jacking, pumping stations and water mains renewal work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs across thousands of low value projects, ensuring each is profitable for the company. The projects that you will be involved in will all be high volume low cost work within water, covering repair and maintenance projects and developer services projects. Further projects will include rising main for sewers, bridges and emergency pipe diversions.
REQUIREMENTS
You are required to have a good standard of education preferably a BSc in quantity surveying and commercial management. To be considered for this position you should also be a chartered surveyor.
As well as being well educated it’s vital you have good stability on your CV working for a tier one or tier two contractor within utilities or highways maintenance working on high volume low cost work.
REWARDS AND BENEFITS
The successful candidate will be rewarding with a very competitive salary ranging from £65,000 – £73,000, on top of this you will be given a company bonus and a company car/competitive car allowance. You will get private healthcare, life assurance, a matched pension scheme and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
