About the company

My client is a privately owned specialist sub-contractor who specialise within the highways, hard landscaping and civil engineering sector. The projects they work on have a great variety and vary within cost, ranging from £1M up to £15M. They work within the private and public sectors working with well respected Main Contractors such as ISG, Lendlease, Multiplex and Mace. As well as having a brilliant selection of clients they have also worked on a great selection of projects such as Battersea Power Station, Imperial College and Tate Modern. During the COVID-19 pandemic they have thrived picking up around £25M worth of work across London. Because of there hard work and quality this has opened up an opportunity for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join there dedicated and skilful commercial team.

About the opportunity

This is a superb, diverse and exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor on highways, paving, landscaping, groundworks and civil engineering projects. It sounds like a nice spread of sectors doesn’t it? Despite working within a mixture of sectors you will predominately be working on NEC contracts as well as occasionally working on JCT contracts. You will be working with some of the most respected Main Contractors within the industry, the project values will range from £1M – £15M. As well as having ongoing, continuous and thorough support from the Commercial Manager and Project Manager you will also be looking after a small team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistants, helping them grow, develop and improve.

About the requirements

All of their Operational and Commercial staff are degree qualified and there’s no reason for them to stop doing this is there? So, because of this it’s vital you have a degree within Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management or Civil Engineering. As well as being academically strong you will not be considered for this opportunity if you don’t have a stable background working within Civil Engineering (ideally for a sub-contractor). A stable background is somebody who spends on average 4 years per contractor they have worked for.

Benefits and rewards

Are you still reading this? If so, the successful individual will be rewarded with a brilliant basic wage ranging from £50,000 – £65,000 (this of course depends on experience) On top of a great basic salary you will also be rewarded with a full package. We all love lots of money but we both know it’s not just about the money is it? My client pride themselves off personal development and they want the successful individual to follow them on their journey of growth which will lead to promotions.
