About the company

My client is a tier one main contractor who work worldwide, they are a leading name within infrastructure, utilities and rail turning over £1B. Despite being a Tier One worldwide contractor, they are also a family run company and still have that family feel to them. They specialise within rail, water, gas, power, highways and construction. Due to their high profile within Civil Engineering and their high standard of work this has led to a very healthy pipe line of work for 2021. Some of the contracts they are working on are HS2, Thames Water and CP6. As well as these contracts they also have several smaller and private civil engineering projects across London.

About the opportunity

Due to the company’s ongoing expansion and very healthy pipeline regarding work they are now in a position where they can bring another member on board to join the health and safety team. The successful candidate will be in charge of using the companies own health and safety policies and putting them into practice as well as supporting the Health and Safety Manager. You will be preparing your own risk assessments and going on site to make sure everything is safe and that the members of staff who are on site are following company procedures and legal procedures.

The projects that you will be involved in are all going to be very fast pasted water contracts such as Thames Water, Southern Water and Affinity Water. The role will be brilliant for someone who’s looking to learn and develop and get great exposure within utilities.

To be successful in this role you will have to show certain skills, characteristics and follow certain duties such as: Make sure that all members of staff are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and to provide advice when it’s needed.  You will be in charge of carrying out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any re occurrences.

Benefits and rewards

For this permanent position, we are targeting candidates looking to earn anywhere from £30,000 to £45,000 per annum however specific salary will be defined upon experience and suitability. There will be a generous package offered; travel allowance OR company vehicle in addition to standard benefits associated with a large successful company.


To be considered for any of these positions you will be required to have had experience working in Utilities for tier 1 or tier 2 companies with strong stability.

The successful candidate will need experience working within highways maintenance, water or general utilities.

A NEBOSH general certificate is vital as is a UK driving license to help you go from one site to another if you’re required.
