Are you a Health & Safety Manager looking to make a difference for a highway contractor?

About the company

My client is a Tier 2, family-run, highways company who is currently turning over £25M per annum. They are a financially stable civil engineering contractor who can offer long-term stability to their staff, they have had most of their trades & labour work for them for over 20 years. The types of works they cover involve term maintenance, resurfacing and carriageway treatment, regeneration schemes, hard-soft landscaping as well as winter maintenance. They currently have contracts with Enfield, Newham, and Lewisham as well as a few others. They are looking to grow as a company as well, which will create long-term opportunities for their staff, growth for them isn’t increasing turnover, it’s increasing the number of long-term contracts they work on and increasing profit margins. Morals are also very important for my client, being a family-run business, the appreciation for their staff is massive, and making sure their staff is happy, financially rewarded, and busy throughout the year is vital for them as a business.

Within this role, you will be reporting to the Compliance Director and working very closely with the Operations Director, both Directors are approachable individuals, switched on, and easy to work with.

They already have their ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 so you will need to maintain this but you will also need to apply a new culture change, they aren’t just trying to tick boxes with their Health & Safety, they are looking for someone to improve it and bring real change to the company, this is an exciting opportunity to develop health & safety the way you want it to look. The types of projects you will be working on will be predominantly termed maintenance contracts, roads, highways, and civil engineering.
