About the Company:

This Company is a hands-on, third-generation Irish Main Contractor who has been well established within the UK market for the past 5 + Years. This client has a history of construction dating back over 90 years to the 1920s and has achieved notable success and experience across a wide range of key construction sectors.

They are well renowned in Ireland and quickly becoming established in the UK Market with offices in Liverpool, Birmingham, and London. They undertake projects within a variety of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Residential and Sport & Leisure.

About the Role:

Our client is currently looking to recruit a Health and Safety Manager to be based in their Birmingham office for a large up-and-coming residential project.

Your duties as the HSEQ Manager shall include:

  • Be a Champion for Procore, promote all core tools on Procore with the Site Teams.
  • Carry out all Audits on Procore.
  • Advise site management on Health & Safety (Rules & Regulations)
  • Conduct Safety Audits on sites as deemed necessary by the company, generally two per month depending on the site performance this could increase.
  • Review sub-contractor RAMS & carry out RAMS as required.
  • Up-date UK Safety Policies as required.
  • Up-date all procedures/documentation regarding COVID-19 and communicate with Staff and sub-contractors. Ensure Sites/Offices have the relevant signage and equipment as required.
  • Hold regular site safety meetings with all sub-contractors on site.
  • Ensure sub-contractor work activities are co-ordinated to ensure the safety of all persons on site.
  • Review subcontractor safety documentation.
  • Ensure Health and Safety Prequalification Questionnaire is carried out at appointment stage.
  • Monitor all health and safety activities on the project and report the findings to the Site Team, UK HSEQ Manager and Directors via Procore.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety rules, regulations and procedures and stop any operation in the case of dangerous circumstances until immediate remedial action has been taken.
  • Identify, reduce and maintain register of relevant legislative, regulatory and other policy requirements acceptable to the company.
  • To assist the Site Teams with the maintenance of the safety management system
  • Take the Lead on Considerate Constructor Initiatives and Audits.
  • Assist and coordinate all Considerate Constructor activities, including registration of Projects.
  • Coordinate Certification to CHAS, Safe Contractor, British Safety Council, construction online, and any relevant registered bodies.
  • Promote the company in terms of Health and Safety Awards.
  • Coordinate the Online Induction System, ensure new sites are created and regular updates must be made as the Projects progress.
  • Prepare monthly HS&E statistics in the form of a Procore dashboard to be included in the Monthly Client report for each project.
  • Prepare quarterly HS&E dashboard statistics across the region for directors meeting.
  • To be in attendance at site management meetings to record any safety non-compliance.
  • Conduct all Safety Focus Talks as deemed necessary.
  • Record and investigate all accidents/near misses on site on log on Procore and reported to the Directors and HSEQ Manager.
  • Create a culture of New Miss Reporting on Procore.
  • Compile a monthly safety report to record all safety activities on site and copy to Directors and the Group HSEQ Manager.
  • Develop and advise on safe systems at work.
  • Ensure company permit to work systems are followed up.
  • Complete all QHSEQ Tenders activities as directed by UK Directors & Senior Management.
  • Review and update company safety documentation as requested by the Group HSEQ Manager, in particular site specific construction plans and policies.
  • Scanning and electronic filing of documents in order to maintain site filing in accordance with the project filing structure.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate from time to time by the Group HSEQ Directors and Senior Managers.
  • Such other duties as may be assigned to you by the Company from time to time.

  • Ensure that BREEAM is being implemented by site staff who should be collecting the correct information through-out the project duration.
  • Ensure the ITP’s for Quality Assurance are being uploaded onto Procore as the works proceeds.

ISO Requirements:

  • Champion the ISO Standards across the Projects.
  • Take the Lead for all ISO Internal and External Audits in the UK region.
  • Close out all issues raised during the Internal and External Audits in the region on Procore.
  • Comply with the companies ISO HSEQ Management System requirements i.e. perform your work according to your department process documents, procedures and maintaining document information/completing department forms/records as required.
  • Understand and apply our HSEQ policies in all aspects of your work.
  • Contribute towards achieving the company objectives and our department’s KPI’s.
  • Ensure that the needs and requirements of the company’s internal departments and customers are understood and delivered.
  • Help develop and improve our internal processes and management system by reporting corrective actions, updates and improvement ideas.
