Our Client is a tier one main contractor who is currently operating with a turnover of £20 billion. They have offices worldwide; in the UK, their head office is based in the West Country and they have local depots based in London, the West Midlands and Yorkshire. Despite having an overall specialism in rail, they also have teams that specialise in highways infrastructure, tunnelling, energy, bridges and structures.

About the role

Due to the company’s ongoing expansion and very healthy pipeline regarding work they are now in a position where they can bring another member on board to join the health and safety team. The successful candidate will be in charge of using the companies own health and safety policies and putting them into practice, preparing their own risk assessments and going on site to make sure everything is safe and that the members of staff who are on site are following company procedures and legal procedures. You will be working on 5 stations upgrade projects in North London and West London. These projects involve internal works and infrastructure works also.

To be successful in this role you’ll how to show certain skills, characteristics and follow certain duties such as: Make sure that all members of start are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and to provide advice when it’s needed.  You will be in charge of carrying out accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any re occurrences.

If there was ever an accident involving the company your job will be to investigate the accident properly and professionally and report the incident to the health and safety executive.

Benefits and rewards

For this permanent position, we are targeting candidates looking to earn anywhere from £45,000 to £55,000 per annum however specific salary will be defined upon experience and suitability. There will be a generous package offered; travel allowance OR company vehicle in addition to standard benefits associated with a large successful company (bonus scheme, pension, health care, laptop, phone etc.).


To be considered for any of these positions you’ll be required to have had experience working in Civil Engineering for tier 1 or tier 2 companies with strong stability. It’s important to have worked for each of your previous companies for at least 3 years per company.

A NEBOSH general certificate is vital as is a UK driving license to help you go from one site to another if you’re required.
