About the company:

My client is a multi-disciplined Civil Engineering contractor, with its parent group turning over £900M. They work with both public and private sector customers in the specialist sectors of rail, highways and engineering. Their clients include HS2, Highways England and well-known developers. They deliver nationally but are organised regionally. As a company, they pride themselves on the technical capabilities of their staff, their high standard of work and the amount of repeat business they are rewarded. The specific Civil Engineering arm is turning over approximately £150M from work including Highways Infrastructure, highways maintenance, Airport projects, 278 works, Landscaping and the occasional work on Rail Depots. The projects involve a lot of concrete works, deep drainage and heavy earthworks and they range in value from £1M – £150M.

About the role

Due the company expanding and winning work in Surrey they are now looking for a General Foreman to support the project manager. The projects that you will be involved in will be on a highway’s maintenance schemes in Surrey. The projects will be involved in will range from surfacing, traffic management, kerbing and routine highways and footways maintenance.

The successful candidate will need to construct and deliver the allocated section of work within a specified time frame with correctly allocated resources.  You’re going to need to optimise outputs and reduce the need for overtime working to allow all colleagues to keep a good working pattern throughout the week. It’s important to note that you’ll also need to ensure safety compliances and promote safe working practices. As the potential new General Foreman, you will be in charge of monitoring construction activity on site and make sure that they meet up to the quality standards put in place.

About the Benefits and rewards

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary ranging from £35,000 – £45,000 + a full package on top.

About the requirements

To be considered for this position, you should have experience working as a General Foreman within highways for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 company. Your work history should be stable; ideally you should have worked at your previous companies for a number of years.

SMSTS & SSSTS is preferred.

A UK driving license is mandatory for this role.
