About the company

My client is the biggest utility contractor within the UK turning over £850M, specialising in gas, water, electric, fibre and power. They are a tier one main contractor but they also sub contract utility packages on large contracts. The opportunities to grow within the company are huge, they are always expanding and they like to promote within and reward their staff. The reputation of my client is brilliant, they are known for completing work on time and to a great standard, because of this they have landed some big contracts with HS2, Thames Water, Anglian Water, UKPN and Southern Water.

About the role

Due to my client continuing to grow they are now looking for an Estimator to join their Pre-Construction team. The projects that you will be involved in will be working on the multi utility diversion works for HS2. HS2 is going to be one of the biggest and most challenging projects within the UK’s rail construction industry history. The initial stage of the project is a 5-year contract which is likely to be extended. Within this role you will be working underneath somebody who has 15+ years’ experience working on Multi Utilities and he also has a first-class honour degree in Construction Management. He is very approachable, very knowledgeable, confident and he would be a great person to work with. As well as long term stability the role can offer somebody great progression routs through the company to become a Senior Estimator then in the future run their own Estimating team.

My client is looking for somebody to Co-ordinate with the bid management team to develop a schedule of key dates for individual estimates (enquiries, pricing, and adjudication). You must have had experience working for a well-known utility contractor and you must have had hands on exposure to any type of utility.

You will not be considered for this role unless you have experience working for a well known utility contractor with stability on your CV.

You’ll be rewarded with a very competitive salary which ranging from £65,000- £65,000 + package.


You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, Business of equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within civil engineering as an estimator and to show good long term stability at the companies you have worked for, ideally 3 years per company that you’ve worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
