ABOUT THE COMPANY

This business is one of my top clients. Having worked with them for the past 10+ years I have seen them develop in both size and capability over this time. They now currently turnover above £120 million per annum, building concrete frame and groundwork packages ranging in value up to £40 million each for a variety of residential contractors and developers throughout London and the surrounding Home Counties. They have a very modern edge to the business while maintaining traditional roots.

On a personal note, I believe this company is one of the best because of the environment they create for their people and because of the personalities of the superb senior management/directorship team. They go that extra mile to not only retain their staff but to truly keep them happy to be with the business. Small things have been added to the office like a gym that people have access to all day with extra half an hour breaks given three times a week for anyone who wants to use it. They have a treatment room where massages and cosmetic treatments are available to everyone on Fridays free of charge. And they now even have a rooftop garden and BBQ area. I’d want to work here myself if I had the relevant experience!  They really are a great company to work for to gain great project experience, to develop capability in modern construction techniques, and to be part of the values they believe in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is looking to strengthen their existing estimating team by adding an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to their ranks.

The opportunity will involve the usual duties such as putting together tenders for reinforced concrete frames and groundwork packages in and around London for primarily residential developers/contractors. The usual package values you will be expected to target could range anywhere from £5m up to £50m each and some or all of the following duties will apply:

  • Preparation of tender submissions
  • Measuring and take-offs from drawings
  • Producing bills-of-quantities
  • Cost Planning
  • Pre and post Contract meetings with clients to sell not only the price but the reason they should pick your business over others too
  • The build-up of tender price from first principles based on plans, programme, and scope of works

REQUIREMENTS

For this opportunity, I am looking for individuals who have previous experience working for an RC / Reinforced Concrete Frame and Groundwork subcontractor in the UK in an estimating capacity.

It is important you have the knowledge of pricing and producing tenders for Concrete Frame and Groundwork packages in the UK to be considered.

REWARDS AND BENEFITS

Due to the sought-after nature of these skill sets, I am looking to target individuals currently earning anywhere from £70,000 to £120,000 per annum (£300 to £500 per day if self-employed) as I know experience allows for dramatically differing earning levels in estimating within the RC frame sector.

Salaries/rates will be negotiable at the point of the interview depending on the level of experience you have gained.

With the basic salary, our client offers the usual package of car allowance, pension, bonuses, and similar if you are PAYE, or a slightly tailored version of benefits if you are self-employed.
