My client is a privately-owned contractor with a superb reputation within Construction and Civil Engineering. They have been trading for over 60 years and because of this have built a strong client base where they get continuous repeat business as well as new business. They get involved in several types of works covering highways major projects, 278 works, Airports, marine & Environmental, water infrastructure, energy and new build. They have 3 regional offices which cover South Wales, Hampshire & South West England and Kent (this opportunity will be based in Kent).

About the role

The company are looking for an estimator to join their growing Civil Engineering team in Kent. They are looking for somebody who is interested in a long-term opportunity and are willing to progress their career. Ideally, they are looking for somebody responsible for negotiating, securing orders and providing an effective handover of contracts post award. You will be reviewing tender estimates based upon optional construction methods, outputs, programmes and resource availability. The types of works you will be getting involved in will range in value from £700,000 – £10M and the projects will be covering aspects of Civil Engineering such as groundwork’s, earthworks and concrete works. The successful candidate will be involved in attending pre construction and construction site visits. It’s vital that you’re somebody who strives for continuous improvement within the estimating process and your area of responsibility.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive salary which ranging from £50,000- £65,000 + package.


You’ll be required to have a good standard of education preferably to Foundation Degree level (HND,HNC) in a Construction , Civils, Business of equivalent qualification.

It’s important to have experience working within civil engineering as an estimator and to show good long-term stability at the companies you have worked for, ideally 3 years per company that you’ve worked for.

You’ll also need a full UK driver’s license to allow to get from the office to the construction site and to other locations you might require to visit.
