ABOUT THE ROLE
With all growth comes change and development and while things have gone very well to date, the managing director is focused on ways they can improve and how to support each area of the business best. That is why this opportunity has such a vital part to play. The existing estimating/preconstruction team is built of seasoned specialists who know how to price, tender, and secure excellent projects, but with the divisions growing, now is the time that an opportunity exists for an estimating director to be appointed to not only head up this department but to help steer the very tasks they carry out. To date, the MD has played a part in fulfilling a lot of these aspects but the business is now operating at a size where this needs to be delegated to a department director who can be the ambassador for the business while working with the same vision and values when interacting with clients and ultimately securing the future work for the business. This is why I am looking for an estimating director or someone ready to step up into this role, who is as excited about this business as I and many others are.
REQUIREMENTS
To start, anyone who is considered must have a strong background in pricing and securing RC frames, groundwork, and basement packages while working for a specialist subcontractor in the UK. Secondly, I am looking for individuals who are already heading up a team or those who have a taste of management and are more than ready to step up to this role. Estimating in this specialist sector takes skill, knowledge, and a real understanding of the works involved, but beyond that, to head up a whole estimating department within a contractor turning over circa £200m per annum, you need to have a certain level of gravitas, confidence, and caliber to be successful. This truly is an exceptional opportunity, so equally, I am looking to speak with the best Senior Estimators, Managing Estimators, or Estimating Directors this sector has to offer.
