About the Opportunity:

I have been asked to find a Contracts Manager for this business to add additional support to the management structure due to increased work levels and a key individual retiring. This position will report straight to the Operations Director and Managing Director, with the responsibility of overseeing several major projects in London. Individual concrete frame (and associated groundwork) packages for this business, range in value from circa £5 million all the way up to (and in excess of) £50 million each. You will be responsible for delivery on some of the best schemes in town, not only in size, but also complexity and profile.

As a Contracts Manager with in this team you will be involved at both precontract stages (offering technical advice and methodology while interacting with the team and the clients prior to commencement of works) and post contract stages (overseeing a number of live projects while helping assist with any number of issues the individual site teams may have). This position will play a crucial part as you sit in the senior management of the business, helping create the bridge between sites and office, while working with the teams on both sides to make sure projects are delivered in the best way possible.

I would like to add that this business is still growing year on year through organic means (i.e. more projects) and acquisition and their reputation is that of a leading player in this market with a highly respected brand. Positions like this with this contractor don’t come around often, so we really are looking for the best of the best for this role.


About the Employer:

The business is privately owned and as mentioned above is currently turning over circa £150 million per annum while operating as part of a larger group. They have in house design capability, top rate health & safety standards, an outstanding engineering team as well as some of the best commercial staff in the sector. They work with the very best main contractors, developers and end clients in the UK completing a variety of projects from high rise commercial properties, to major concrete packages on the largest civil engineering schemes in the UK. And all of this is only part of the reason why I believe they are one of the best in this market.

About the Requirements:

I am looking for an individual who is degree qualified in civil engineering and has already progressed through the ranks up through project management to an existing contracts management level. You may be recently stepped up to this level or may have been doing it for a number of years, but it is crucial you have come from this background and have gained this technical management experience while working in the subcontract concrete frame and groundwork sector.

It is crucial that any applicants have experience of working for rival top concrete frame subcontractors / principle contractors to be considered.


Salary / Benefits:

Packages are always based on individual’s backgrounds and experience but as a rough guide I am targeting individuals earning anywhere from £110,000 to £130,000 per annum. This can be broken down in a number of ways and this business is open to people of a PAYE or self-employed basis. Bonuses are paid and are based on a percentage of your basic on an annual basis.
