Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Manager – RC Frames & Groundworks (x 4)

London & South East Projects

About the Opportunities:

I have been asked to find someone with this level of experience for 4 of my clients around London;

One is based in Surrey, one is in West London and two are in Hertfordshire, and all of their projects are in and around London, handling concrete frames and groundworks for a variety of main contractors and developers.

I am happy to discuss each business in detail (including company names) direct with any interested individuals as I know this is a close-knit sector.

Each offer excellent opportunities for lead roles playing a key part of the senior management team.

The smallest of these 4 contractors turn over around £80m per annum and the largest around £200m per annum, which I know doesn’t narrow it down, but does give you an idea that some of these roles are options to work for some of the premiership businesses in this niche market. Again, I am happy to discuss the companies in detail, just get in touch.

About the Roles (no matter which one of these companies we target):

We have been asked to recruit Contracts Managers for these businesses. The roles will include the usual duties associated with managing a selection of live projects (usually between 3-5 schemes at different stages of completion), while reporting to the company directors (primarily the operations director and / or MD).

Day to day duties will include overseeing individual site teams, which will be headed up with project managers and site managers, making sure they are reporting any potential risks or issues, are staying on time / programme and are maintaining costs. This role will also be client facing as you will be expected to liaise with clients on each project to represent the company, making sure client’s specifications are being met and they are happy from the preconstruction phase all the way through to delivery. Your technical knowledge will be called on at the preconstruction phases to go through methodology and your client management skills will be called on throughout construction to make sure the relationships are nurtured.

The locations of projects this role will oversee will mainly be based inside London, but depending on where the successful applicant is based (i.e. where you live), there may also be the possibility of some projects in the surrounding home counties, so the successful individual will need to manage their time working around this area across a maximum of 5 jobs at any one time either traveling by car or train (depending on what you prefer).

About the Requirements:

To be considered for these positions, candidates need to have worked in a Contracts Management or Senior Project Management position, while working for a rival reinforced concrete frame and groundwork subcontractor. This is a must as I have specifically been asked by each client to only consider people from this market.

Other basic requirements include a strong technical understanding of concrete frames and groundworks and the various methods of construction involved. Individuals from an engineering background would therefore be preferred but we are considering people from a trades background if a strong understanding of tasks like programming and similar can be shown.

Outside of the above, I need people who are leaders. Its one thing knowing your stuff, but at this level of position its important you can command the team while charming the clients too.

About the Benefits:

For the right person, our clients are offering strong basic packages including six figure salaries and incredible benefits packages with everything from car allowances to bonuses included. At the end of the day these large successful businesses are prepared to pay the right amount to secure the best people for these pivotal senior management roles, so whether you are seeking an increase, or just a better opportunity, please get in touch with me to discuss these options.

P.S. It’s also worth noting all of these businesses are open to self-employed (i.e. limited company) or PAYE members of staff for these roles.

How to Apply:

I am more than happy to discuss these opportunities with people over the phone or face to face in a fully confidential manner. This is an incestuous sector and I fully understand the importance of keeping things discrete.

Alternatively, it would be ideal to see a copy of your CV to understand your previous experience and employment. In line with GDPR, nothing will be done with your CV / details until we have discussed the role in detail anyway, but having gained an understanding of your formal past, this may help when we come to talk and discuss the options.
