RC Frame & Groundwork Subcontractor – £50 million turnover

Head office in Hertfordshire with projects in and around East, North and West London

About the Opportunity:

I have been asked to find a Contracts Manager for this business to add additional support to the management structure due to increased work levels.

Currently this business is operating with circa 25 live sites with the bulk of the work being in and around East, North and Central London.

It is crucial that suitable applicants have experience of working for rival concrete frame and groundwork subcontractors to be considered.

I would like to add though that this business is still growing year on year, and their reputation so far is impressive. I personally get on very well with the directors and am constantly hearing positive feedback from the people I place with the business.

About the Employer:

Based in Hertfordshire this company is a growing name in the RC frame and groundwork sector with a reputation for quality and a modern edge to how they operate. Current annual turnover stands at around £50 million across circa 25 sites (with £50m also secured for 2020 already). They are growing year on year due to increased client numbers and more and more repeat work from existing partnerships. They have a diverse way of working with clients in the commercial, residential, educational and leisure sectors and plan to keep it this way to protect the business. Usual packages range from £1m up to £12m each and include a variety of basement works, groundworks and concrete frames.

This business has a close-knit senior management and who ever joins in this role will join that management team. You’ll report to the operations director but will also have a close working relationship with the commercial director and MD so really will help towards the business’s future. As a Contracts Manager your role will involve both pre-contract and post-contract management.

About the Requirements / Abilities & Experience Needed:

I am looking for an individual who is degree qualified in civil engineering and has already progressed through the ranks up through project management to an existing contracts management level. You may be recently stepped up to this level or doing it for a number of years, but it is crucial you have come from this background and having gained this technical management experience while working in the subcontract concrete frame and groundwork sector.

In addition to the above I am looking for someone who is keen to be involved with the bigger picture. Due to the size of this company you’ll have a direct working relationship with all the business unit heads and you’ll all be working together towards a bigger picture. I can see this company doubling in size over the next 5 years so future progression is available for people showing capability and drive.

Salary / Benefits Available:

Packages are always based on individual’s backgrounds and experience but as a rough guide I have been told to target people earning anywhere from £80,000 to £120,000 per annum. This can be broken down in a number of ways and this business is open to people of a PAYE or self-employed basis. Bonuses are paid and are based on usual performance targets.
