About the company

Our client is a multi-disciplined, reputable sub-contractor who currently turnover £100m per annum. As a business, they specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the South Coast. The company has some of the best employees in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and are currently in a period of steady growth.

Whilst the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain their family feel atmosphere, offering an enjoyable working environment and everyone is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company.

They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.

As a business, they have transitioned into the Capital Delivery sector rather than Reactive Maintenance type works which were typically associated with this company. Their award on the LOT 2 Emergency Works Contract AMP7 supports this transition as well as being awarded and completing 40km of mains replacement (recent BCIA award) and securing a further package of 20km. This is in addition to some flagship projects to include and not limited to West Hyde Rising Main (TW Maple Lodge site), Store Road Rising Main, and Rye Meads.

About the opportunity:

Due to successful company expansion, our client is recruiting permanently for a Contracts Manager.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of works in the region of £5M per annum – projects which can be extremely technical, niche, unique, and challenging and no two jobs are the same.

As well as strategy and pre-construction, you will oversee the delivery of projects, managing 3rd party design consultants, making sure projects are profitable, maintaining a great relationship with the client and training and developing delivery teams. The projects will be predominantly wastewater infrastructure as well as some clean water infrastructure projects and characteristics of the works include temporary works, shaft and headings and deep drainage.

For this opportunity, my client is open to considering a professional who is operating at Senior Project Manager level, but is looking to progress into Contracts Management.

About the benefits and rewards:

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a civil engineering brain who likes a variety of projects where no project is the same, and someone who likes technical projects. You will have the chance to work for a company where you’re treated as a name, not a number, and brilliant performance certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

You’ll have the chance to work for a thriving, growing, and friendly team that gives you the chance to enjoy work and achieve career goals. If you’re up for the challenge, make the change!

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £85,000 – £95,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered including car allowance, company bonus, private healthcare, and other benefits.

About the Requirements:

To be considered for this opportunity, you must hold a strong background in utility and water infrastructure, holding proven experience of working on complex, engineering projects. Ideally you will be degree qualified in a relevant discipline and hold good stability whilst working for a UK based water or civil engineering contractor.

How to apply:

If interested in this opportunity, please send a copy of your CV to or call 01923 750 095 to discuss further on a confidential basis.
