ABOUT THE COMPANY
My client is a multi-disciplined, cash-rich, well-known sub-contractor who is currently turning over £90M per annum with projections of turning over £100M in the next year. They specialise primarily within the water (wastewater and clean water) and infrastructure/non-infrastructure areas of civil engineering, with offices in North London, Kent, and on the south coast (this role will be based in their North London office). The company has some of the best staff in the industry working for them, they are very well respected across the utility industry and they’re financially very secure and in a stable position. While the business is looking to expand, they are also keen to maintain its family feel atmosphere, where it’s a fun working environment and everyone, is treated as a name, not a number, with the respect from the directors across the company.
They are a relationship-based contractor and pride themselves on the quality of the work that they produce. This has led them to have repeat business with Thames Water, holding certain frameworks for over 30 years. On top of this, they have long-standing relationships with Affinity Water, Southern Water, and South East Water and have recently started working with Anglian Water.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be reporting directly to the Director of Operations, an approachable, friendly, experienced, and well-respected individual across the industry. Initially, you will be managing a portfolio of works in the region of £5M per annum, these projects can, however, be extremely technical, niche, unique, challenging, and difficult to deliver, it will create a great sense of achievement. My client is targeting to continue its growth in AMP-8 and is already looking at a growth strategy, you will be part of this and helping the business grow, this will also help you grow as a profession.
As well as strategy and pre-construction you will be overseeing the delivery of projects, managing 3rd party design consultants, making sure projects are profitable, maintaining a great relationship with the client, and managing, training, and developing delivery teams. The projects will be predominantly wastewater infrastructure as well as some clean water infrastructure projects.
REQUIREMENTS
I am looking for someone with a strong utility and water infrastructure background, and someone with the technical understanding to work on complex, engineering projects. This means ideally, I am looking for someone who has a degree in Civil Engineering. Good stability on your CV is essential, I am looking for someone who holds good job stability working for UK-based water/civil engineering contractors.
REWARDS AND BENEFITS
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with a proper Civil Engineering brain, someone who likes a variety of projects where no project is the same, and someone who likes technical projects. You will have the chance to work for a company where you’re treated as a name, not a number, and brilliant performance certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. You have the chance to work for a thriving, growing, and friendly team that gives you the chance to enjoy work every day but helps a business grow and potentially achieve some personal career goals. My client is regarding the successful candidate with a great salary ranging in value between £80,000 – £90,000 + car allowance, company bonus (which has been very good in the last couple of years) as well as other benefits.

I have used Cityscape Recruitment multiple times over the last 5 years. Very pleasant to deal with and all candidates put forward for interview are well suited to the position and well vetted by the team, so there is no time wasted with unsuitable applicants. I would highly recommend Cityscape. I intend to use them again in the future should any vacancies become available.
Operations Director,
