About the company:

Our client is a Construction Consultancy based in Birmingham that has an excellent reputation in the industry for providing Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Employer’s Agent services to Private Industrial and Commercial sector clients.  Employing staff from both the Client and Contracting side of the industry, our client is well placed to ensure they provide holistic design and build expertise in every project. Employing 22 staff currently, this company celebrated it’s 25th Anniversary last year and, needless to say, marked the occasion with numerous events and social activities with staff and clients alike. The company places positive emphasis on team building throughout the year, encouraging regular nights out together, and also hosting family BBQs in the summer months. A number of the team have set up a cycling group and the company has had new shower facilities installed to facilitate. The office space is open-plan with a kitchen area and breakout area, and also provides parking facilities.


About the opportunity:

Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Construction Project Manager to join their team and take overall responsibility for seeing projects through from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality. In this company the role of Project Manager encompasses the management of matters concerning planning, design, procurement, construction and completion of contract, interfacing directly with the owning or developing Client.

Pre-contract responsibilities will include co-ordination of market appraisal, structural and other surveys, ground investigation, viability study, work-up of brief and specification, prediction of cost and programme, selection and appointment of professional team, design development, planning and building regulation issues, form of contract and selection, and appointment of contractor.

Post-contract responsibilities will include monitoring of construction quality and programme, cost, fit-out and occupation, reporting, training in operation and maintenance, liaison with occupier and fund surveyors and agreement of final account.

About the requirements:

The ideal professional will have 3+ years experience working as a Construction Project Manager in the Private sector. You will be pro-active, driven and capable of working within a team environment. You will be able to lead a project and report directly to a Client, whilst demonstrating a good understanding of construction technology, sufficient to carry out quality inspections and reports. Ideally, you will be experienced in construction procurement, contracts and administering projects, and experienced also within the Industrial, Retail, Education and / or Healthcare sectors.
