Commercial Manager

Multi Utilities

£70,000 – £90,000 + package (dependent on experience)

About the opportunity

Are you tired of working long hours and not being rewarded? Are you tired of being treated like a number and not a name? And are you tired of doing the same repetitive works all day and every day? If so, this opportunity is the one for you. My client is looking for a Commercial Manager to oversee the whole Commercial team and report directly into Director level, working closely with the owners of the business. This opportunity can help take your career to the next level with the opportunity to progress into Director level in the next couple of years, depended on performance. As mentioned already, you will be in charge of the whole Commercial team, this gives you the opportunity to really make a difference, get the team performing the way you want them to perform, train them and manage them the way you want them to be managed and help get the best out of everyone, in your own style. The types of works you will be covering will be a mixture of multi utility and power projects working with commercial clients such as Selfridges, Universities, hospitals and Colleges across London as well as Lendlease & UKPN.

About the company

My client is a Tier 2 Main Contractor turning over £50M and specialising within Multi Utilities and Power. They operate in Ireland but have a large presence in London. Company culture is important isn’t it? My client also agrees. They are a tight-knit team with a very low staff turnover, this is due to recognition of hard work and performance from the owners and a great working environment. Company values are also extremely important, they believe in respect, teamwork, excellence and integrity as well as a few others. My client has been trading for 20 years and are currently going through the busiest period the companies ever had. Despite going through such a busy patch they are not staying stagnant. They are planning on opening up some new divisions in the future including an infrastructure division.

What’s not to like about a privately owned, expanding contractor that look after their staff?

This is an important opportunity for my client so it does come with some strict requirements. They are looking for somebody who’s worked for utility contractors (UK based only) and self-delivered utility projects (Multi utilities would be preferred but they’re open to power, telecoms and electric). You will need to be degree qualified within Commercial & Quantity Surveying degree or Civil Engineering. You will not be considered for this opportunity if you are freelance or don’t have a stable CV working for UK based utility contractors (Stable is ideally 3/4 years at least per contractor). I’m not finished yet, the final requirement is somebody who’s worked in a commercial leadership position, looking after a team of Quantity Surveyors, training them, supporting them and getting the best out of them.

Benefits and rewards

Fair play if you’re still reading this but we have finally got down to the fun and exciting topics. My client is fairly open to salary, initially they will be looking to pay between £70,000 – £90,000 (depending on how long you’ve been in a leadership role). On top of this, as previously mentioned through out the advert you will be working for a company that look after their staff and a company that are always interested in promoting there staff internally (this is probably more important that money).
