M&E – Civil Engineering

About the opportunity

This is a superb, diverse and exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join a growing contractor on M&E Projects within highways, rail, tunnelling, utilities and airports. It sounds like a nice spread of sectors doesn’t it? Despite working within a mixture of sectors you will predominately be working on NEC contracts as well as occasionally working on JCT contracts. You will be working with clients such as National Grid, Crossrail and London Underground, the project values will range from £500K – £10M. As well as having ongoing, continues and thorough support from the Directors you will also be looking after a small team of Quantity Surveyors and Assistants, helping them grow, develop and improve.

About the company

My client is a well-established, well respected and forward-thinking specialist tier 2 contractor within M&E Civil Engineering. Currently operating at a turnover of £40M they have ambitions, long term plans within the next couple of years to turn that into £100M+. There Operational and Commercial staff are all based in there polished, modern offices in the City of London which gives them easy access to all of their clients. One of the reasons for them having such strong relationships with well respected clients is because of the talent of all of their staff. All of the Commercial and Operational staff are degree qualified within their respected fields.

About the requirements

As previously mentioned all of their Operational and Commercial staff are degree qualified and there’s no reason for them to stop doing this is there? So, because of this it’s vital you have a degree within Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management or Civil Engineering, it’s also preferred that you are also chartered. As well as being academically strong you will not be considered for this opportunity if you don’t have a stable background working within Civil Engineering (ideally M&E within rail) UK experience is also essential. A stable background is somebody who spends on average 4 years per contractor they have worked for.
