Our client is a specialist demolition, recycling and enabling works contractor to the construction industry, working on technical projects throughout Central London and the surrounding Home Counties with project values up to £3M. About the opportunity:

Due to a healthy order book and company expansion, our client is currently recruiting permanently for a Commercial Manager. As a Commercial Manager you will perform an integral role by providing full support to help ensure projects are executed both on time and within budget. You will have a clear understanding of the value of contracts and will work closely with the Directors and clients to deliver on project expectations and requirements.

As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing cost-analysis and estimating process against an agreed Schedule of Rates.
  • Management of all financial matters.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations.
  • Cost valuations with sub-contractors.
  • Negotiation with sub-contractors.
  • Procurement of all supply items & subcontractor packages.
  • Preparation of interim valuations.
  • Chairing site & client progress meetings.
  • Managing interim payments to sub-contractors.
  • Regularly updating projected final accounts.
  • Regular updating and managing cash flow forecasts.
  • Preparation and agreement of all final account matters.
  • Monthly cost/value reconciliation.
  • Pricing of all contract variations.
  • Ensuring that the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to all parties
  • Overseeing financial KPIs
  • Management/mentoring/training of Quantity Surveyors
  • Resolving contractual and commercial problems
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders understand and adhere to contractual obligations

About the benefits and rewards:

For this opportunity, my client is targeting professionals looking to earn anywhere between £65,000 – £70,000 per annum, however specific remuneration will depend on experience and suitability. Furthermore, there will be a generous package offered in addition to other benefits associated with a large successful company.

About the requirements:

In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be degree qualified in a relevant subject and hold strong account management and commercial experience with a proven track record managing commercial aspects of projects valued in excess of £500K. Additionally, you must have experience of working on JCT / NEC contracts and extensive expertise in commercial reporting (CVR’s and cost management).
