Chartered MRICS Ratings Surveyor

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Role:
As a Chartered MRICS Ratings Surveyor, you will focus on advising clients within the commercial retail and office sectors on business rates matters. Your expertise will help clients minimise liabilities and identify opportunities for savings. You’ll manage a varied caseload of complex properties, including large office blocks and retail units, while providing strategic advice and support.
Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct business rates assessments for retail and office properties
– Prepare and submit appeals on behalf of clients
– Liaise with local authorities and the Valuation Office Agency (VOA)
– Provide expert advice on rates mitigation, including empty rates relief and temporary occupation
– Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, offering ongoing consultancy and advice
– Analyse property portfolios to identify rating opportunities and cost-saving measures
– Keep up to date with relevant legislation and market trends
REQUIREMENTS
Key Requirements of the Chartered MRICS Ratings Surveyor:
– MRICS qualified with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
– Proven expertise in commercial property ratings, with a focus on retail and office sectors
– Strong knowledge of UK business rates and the appeals process
– Excellent communication and negotiation skills
– Ability to build strong client relationships and work collaboratively
– Analytical mindset with attention to detail
