ABOUT THE ROLE
About the Role
As a Chartered MRICS Ratings Surveyor, you will play a vital role in advising clients on business rates, helping them minimise liabilities and identify potential savings across retail and office properties. You’ll manage a diverse portfolio, from large office blocks to prime retail units, providing strategic insights and expert guidance.
Key Responsibilities
– Conduct comprehensive business rates assessments for commercial properties.
– Prepare and submit appeals to secure the best outcomes for clients.
– Engage with local authorities and the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).
– Advise on rates mitigation strategies, including empty rates relief and temporary occupation.
– Build and sustain strong client relationships, offering ongoing consultancy and strategic advice.
– Analyse portfolios to identify rating opportunities and maximise savings.
– Stay updated on relevant legislation and market developments.
REQUIREMENTS
Requirements
– MRICS Qualified: Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
– Specialist Knowledge: Expertise in commercial property ratings, particularly within the retail and office sectors.
– Strong Understanding: In-depth knowledge of UK business rates and the appeals process.
– Client-Centric: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a proven ability to build strong client relationships.
– Analytical Skills: Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset.

When you first contact us, be that through direct contact, responding to an advert or applying through our website, we will connect you with a consultant who works in your specialist area.
Initially, they will arrange a meeting to talk through your CV and career history. They will encourage you to go into detail about your background and experiences, capabilities and responsibilities, personal circumstances and any other factors they feel are relevant to help them build up a well-rounded profile of you.

If you are successful in receiving an offer(s), our consultant will communicate this with you and help to negotiate the offer(s) and any other terms of employment.
Finally, we will support you in resigning from your current role, navigating potential counter offers and starting your new role.
